My Classroom

Welcome to 318!

Hi teacher friends! Welcome to my classroom! I'm very happy to say I found my new home in 4th grade this year! I had so much fun decorating this summer. Here are some of my favorite must haves for the classroom that I incorporated into the design! :)

Bright Colors!

These also happen to be my favorite colors. I wanted to make sure the classroom was a bright and cheerful place. Also I thought the colors would help to lighten up the room. I put the yellow on the side with the windows to play off the sunshine and I made the center wall green because it was the brightest and that would be the area where I want the students to be paying attention to for the majority of the lessons.

Positive Quotes

I totally want my classroom to be a place that empowers students and encourages them to try their best! I have lots of growth mindset posters all over the classroom and cute little signs on my desk from family, friends, and past students. :)

The coveted V.I.P. spot!

Students work super hard to earn a chance to become part of the V.I.P. club. I blend this with our school wde PBIS program. If students are showing the 3Rs(Respect, Responsibility, and Ready to Learn) throughout the week they can earn class dojo points. At the end of the week the student with the most gets the desk for the next week. They can sit in the special chair and use my teach supplies. I think this is a nice way to highlight the good and encourage others to want to do the same instead of focusing on the negatives.

Technology

We are very lucky to have 1:1 Chromebook in the classroom this year, but even when we didn't I always tried to find a way to blend technology in the classroom. Whether it is a listening center, content related website, or having students share an iPad or to access their own online book rooms for independent reading time- I will try anything to excite the students and extend on the learning we do together. My goal is to make lessons relatable, memorable, fun, and engaging for all!
